TEXTING WHILE DRIVING!
You may have noticed the signs on I5 noting the $158+ fine for texting while driving. This is a growing problem in our society as research shows texting is actually worse than drinking while behind the wheel. Imagine that! I guess at least a drunk person is looking at the road! The Pediatric Academic Society published findings in May 2013 that teens in the United States receive hundreds of text messages a day, but one message they aren't getting is that they shouldn't text and drive. 43% of high school students of driving age reported texting while driving at least once in the past 30 days. The specific act of texting while driving has been found to increase the risk of a crash by 23 times, leading many to conclude that texting while driving is more dangerous than driving while intoxicated.
Folks, if you haven't told your kids that drive about the dangers of texting behind the wheel...it's high time that you do. Do it before you lose them forever!
Have a blessed day!
