Did you know caring for people with dementia costs $157 billion a year in the United States (US) -- higher than the costs of treating heart disease ($102 billion) and cancer ($77 billion). 75-84% of dementia costs are for nursing home care and care at home. 14.7% of people in the US aged 71+ years are affected by dementia. These findings were reported by the New England Journal of Medicine in April 2013.
Folks, we need to find answers on how to PREVENT dementia in all its various forms. Lets look at brain anatomy first....your brain is made 2/3 of fat (specifically omega 3 fatty acids) and largely cholesterol. The impirical science on the importance of cholesterol is sketchy at best but it does sell alot of statin drugs. As you strip the cholesterol from your brain it becomes less fluid and more prone to injury and neurodegenerative effects. If you have a family history of dementia give our office a call. Lets look over your diet, medications, and lifestyle to taylor a program for you that will put your best foot forward against the sad demise of so many folks later in life. It's your future...be there healthy with WellnessOne!
Have a blessed day!
