With the clouds looming overhead today I am reminded we all are not getting our sun exposure and thus a reduction in our vitamin D3 levels.  The American Society for Clinical Pathology in their November 2012 journal found women with health issues such as arthritis, hypothyroidism, cancer, high blood pressure, and osteoporosis are much more likely to have inadequate levels of vitamin D during seasons with decreased daylight. 28% of women had deficient levels and 33% had insufficient levels of vitamin D. Women taking supplements were able to significantly elevate their vitamin D levels.  If you are taking a cholesterol lowering medication you are also not getting enough Vitamin D.  The reason is when the suns rays react with the cholesterol in your skin..you produce Vitamin D!  Vitamin D according to the Journal of Virology is a much more potent way of eliminating your chances of the flu and cold.  

I don't know about you but I see everyone around me getting ill this year and the BEST thing you can do as a preventative measure is to take Vitamin D3.  Generally you want to take at least 5000 iu/day but if you are unsure of your health you may want to consult with your medical provider.  Here at WellnessOne we carry Metagenics brand which has conveniently put 5000 iu in one small pill to take!  Its a great value for the potency  you get!
