So many of us during this time of year know a senior citizen that is lonely during the holidays. Lonely, older adults with higher levels of cortisol and c-reactive protein (CRP) in their blood are at greater risk for stress and inflammation related diseases (such as diabetes, hypertension and cardiovascular disease). However, a new study form Concordia University in October 2012 has found that lonely senior citizens can decrease their cortisol and CRP levels by maintaining a positive outlook on life and by not blaming themselves for their problems.
So what do we do? Look at ways of lowering systemic inflammation in your body. Consume organic high quality nutrients being sure to stay away from all processed foods. Also consume a Omega 3 Fatty acid supplement best found in fish oil. You should get a combination of EPA and DHA (fatty acids) equalling at least 2,750mg/day. This amount is the omega 3's IN the fish oil not the fish oil amount itself. This is potently anti-inflammatory and after 8 weeks you will notice a substantial difference. We carry Metagenics here at WellnessOne which will give you this dose in 1 teaspoon of fish oil! Beats the heck out of consuming 16 pills from store bought to get the same dose!
Have a blessed day!
