A recent study found in the journal for the Society of General Microbiology in 2012 found digested coconut oil is able to attack the bacteria that cause tooth decay. The study found that enzyme-modified coconut oil strongly inhibits the growth of most strains of Streptococcus bacteria, including Streptococcus mutans (an acid-producing bacterium that is a major cause of tooth decay).
I have long advocated for the use of coconut. Its the only oil you should cook with (its the only one that doesn't turn to trans fat when sufficiently heated), it promotes weight loss, and is GREAT for your skin! Keep an eye out for more on the amazing coconut! Be sure when buying it in the store to look for sources that are "cold-pressed" and "non-GMO."
Have a blessed day!
