Jogging 1-2.5 hr/week increases the life expectancy of men by 6.2 years and women by 5.6 years according to the EuroPRevent May 2012 meeting. Jogging improves oxygen uptake, increases insulin sensitivity, improves lipid profiles (raising HDL and lowering triglycerides), lowers blood pressure, reduces platelet aggregation, increases fibrinolytic activity, improves cardiac function, bone density, immune function, reduces inflammation markers, prevents obesity, and improves psychological function

I would encourage you to look at short sprints with rest in between as an alternative to jogging.  Its easier on the knees and you will burn more calories while building muscle.  Try it with a minimalist shoe!  Help to build your foundation..arches in your feet while you run.  If you already have very flat feet I would recommend a custom orthotic to aid in building your arches while minimizing the pain of doing so.

Here at WellnessOne we carry the top of the line orthotics custom made from Footmaxx International.  Our orthotic lab creates a digital image of your foot so Footmaxx can precisely create an orthotic that will account for every angle, sore, bone spur, whatever you exhibit in an orthotic just for you.  Mention this blog and receive your scan at no charge (normally $20.00).

Have a blessed day!
